YouTube content creator and artist Sotepniques has been known for spray-painting impressive murals themed around classic characters such as Mario, and now he’s decided to base a graffiti wall off of Ocarina of Time. Sotepniques decided to base The Legend of Zelda creation around Young Link as adult Link didn’t jive well with the piece. The Nintendo character is holding a Cucco in one hand and the Deku Shield in the other, with Navi floating over his shoulder telling him to “listen!”

Featured in the background of Sotepniques’ graffiti wall beside Young Link are the recognizable Death Mountain and Hyrule Field locations from Ocarina of Time. Players spend a large portion of their gameplay traversing through Hyrule Field, and it’s the first location introduced to players upon leaving the starting Ocarina of Time area called Kokiri Forest. Death Mountain looms over Sotepniques’ interpretation of Hyrule Field as it does in Ocarina of Time, where it hosts the game’s Fire Temple and plays an important role for the Gorons.
Sotepniques discusses why he chose certain colors for his Ocarina of Time graffiti wall, stating that four different shades of purple make the mountains behind Death Mountain stand out better and highlight the area. Ocarina of Time’s Death Mountain is created using two different shades of brown, while white is used to create the ring of smoke floating above it. The artist scratches additional small details into the graffiti mural using the rim of the spray paint can in order to make the cloud more menacing than the fluffy ones on the opposite side of the creation.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time graffiti painting features many different types of green to create an accurate Hyrule Field with depth, trees, and specs of grass familiar to the N64 game. Young Link is featured near the center of the graffiti wall and Sotepniques uses red and purple to contrast the primarily yellow and green colors that create the character. Behind Young Link and taking up a large portion of Hyrule Field in Sotepniques’ graffiti wall is his artist tag, which the Ocarina of Time fan has decided to make using pink colors to create a 3D metallic aesthetic.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is available on Nintendo 64, 3DS, GameCube, and Switch.
