Since the introduction of regional variants, fans have been coming up with their own. On Reddit, an artist known as El-psy-congroo-01 posted a commission that they drew of the Normal/Flying-Type Braviary. The artwork is a regional variant of the Pokemon and changes it to be a Fighting/Flying-Type. The creature’s head feathers have been changed to look like a samurai helmet while its blue body has been altered to now be a green color. The pocket monster’s tail also saw modification, as the regional variant’s is much longer and consists of different hues. El-psy-congroo-01 also provided a Shiny version of their Braviary, which sported a black body and saw the yellow stripes being shifted to blue.

El-psy-congroo-01’s Braviary regional variant has earned a number of fans and currently sits at over 5,000 upvotes. Many users found the artwork to be amazing, while a few mentioned that this form of the Pokemon should have been the Hisuian form in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. One fan stated that this was a fantastic piece of artwork and that they liked it better than a lot of the current real Pokemon. Some commenters asked El-psy-congroo-01 if they did private commissions, to which they answered yes.

The regional variant form for Braviary is just one of many designs that fans of Game Freak’s RPG series have come up with. A Redditor going by the name Magikapow created their own versions of the Pokemon Trubbish and Garbodor. The artist changed the two pocket monsters into plastic bags, with the creatures featuring handles at the bottom of their bodies. While Magikapow’s take on the regional variants of Trubbish and Garbodor retained their Poison-Typing, the artist also added a secondary Flying-Type, which is likely a reference to plastic bags floating in the wind. The drawings are incredibly well done and could easily pass for real Pokemon in the upcoming titles of Nintendo’s franchise.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will release for the Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022.
